Pat Morrow
(Canada)

Pat Morrow lives by the motto "f.8 and be there." For the photographer, writer, and videographer of Canmore, Alberta, being there means travelling the globe in search of high adventure and the wisdom of mountain cultures.

Pat MorrowAt 47 years of age, Pat has worked as a freelance photographer for over half his life, combining his love for wild places, climbing and skiing with capturing his experiences on film. Following his ascent of Everest in 1982, he went on to complete the Seven Summits (climbing the highest mountain on all seven continents), recounted in his book, Beyond Everest, Quest for the Seven Summits. For this achievement, in 1987 he received the highest honour that can be given to a Canadian - the Order of Canada. At the 1990 Banff Festival of Mountain Films, he was honoured with the Summit of Excellence award for his work in documenting the mountain experience.

Together with Baiba, his wife and partner of 15 years, Pat spends at least half of every year on expeditions and forays to the great ranges of the world. Their latest book, Footsteps in the Clouds - Kangchenjunga a Century Later, was published in September 1999 by Raincoast Books.
