On the south coast of Greenland stands the Thumbnail, a granite
wall a mile high. Climbers Cecilia Buil and Roberta Nunes
approach by kayak, paddling through icebergs and passing whales
and seals. They think it will take one week on the wall:
climbing, sleeping, working together. If they make it, they will
break the record for the longest new route climbed by a team of
women.

Last Stunt
(Norway/Denmark, 2002, 53’) WORLD PREMIERE
Director/Producer: Tom Edvindsen*
British stuntman Terry Forrestal arrives at Kjerag in
Lysefjorden, one of Norway’s greatest fjords. He is going to
relax - away from his hectic film work - by BASE jumping from
the top of the 1000-metre-high mountain. But one of the jumps
goes wrong and a difficult rescue begins. Terry’s sister accuses
Norway of bad rescue planning and of running “death” tourism.
This is the story of Terry’s last stunt.

Ouray Ice
(USA, 2004, 13’) CANADIAN PREMIERE
Director/Producer: Robert Raker*
The highlight of Colorado’s annual Ouray Ice Festival is the
challenging mixed (rock and ice) climbing competition. In 2004,
of the 26 international competitors, only two made it to the
top. This short film captures the breathtaking performances of
these two amazing athletes.

Alone across Australia
(Australia, 2003, 51’)
Directors/Producers: Ian Darling, Jon Muir*
In 2001, climber and adventurer Jon Muir began a 2500-kilometre
odyssey to cross Australia from the south coast to the north
coast on foot. For 128 days, Jon and his dog, Seraphine,
survived entirely off the land, hunting and gathering along the
way. Jon was taxed to the limit physically and emotionally.
Often close to despair, he drew on his instinct for survival,
his deep understanding of the land and his remarkable inner
strength.
