KOFU — Japanese Vintage Fabric

Maho H-Foster has been a well known Canmore-based artist since 2001. She creates fabric art using the age-old beauty of Japanese textiles as her medium. Much of her material is gleaned from vintage kimonos and Obis. The fabric, which she either frames or sews into wall hanging and table runner, is usually silk, either dyed, woven, or embroidered in multi-coloured. In many cases, her swatches feature some element of nature — birds, flowers, animals or landscapes. Maho’s work is currently displayed at Chef’s Studio Japan in Canmore. mahocody@telus.net
