Mountain Communities Conference 2005: Speakers
Chuck Blyth
Chuck Blyth began his career with Parks Canada in Banff in 1977 when he surveyed grizzly bear habitat. After that he became a park warden in Elk Island National Park and then worked his way up through the ranks to become the Chief Park Warden at Nahanni in 1987. After time spent in Ottawa as national warden service coordinator, and Elk Island as a park biologist, he returned north as the ecosystem secretariat manager of Wood Buffalo National Park.
In 1999, Chuck returned to Nahanni as the park superintendent. As the superintendent of Nahanni National Park Reserve, he views the advice and guidance of the Dehcho First Nations as the key to the current and future ecological integrity of the park. In particular, the spirit and wisdom of the current Grand Chief Herb Norwegian has made the collaborative efforts of Parks Canada and the Dehcho First Nations possible.
