Angeles Mendoza Duran
Angeles Mendoza is currently a PhD candidate under the supervision of Dixon Thompson, faculty of environmental design (EVDS), University of Calgary. Her PhD thesis compares management of protected areas between Canada and Mexico, her home country. Ms. Mendoza’s research includes an analysis of current schemes to evaluate governance. She and Dr. Thompson wrote a chapter on governance for protected areas for the upcoming book Corporate Social Responsibility, Accountability and Governance: Global Perspectives (I. Demirag, editor; Greenleaf Publishing).
Angeles has a bachelor’s degree in biology (honours) and a master’s degree in ecology and environmental sciences, both from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM). She worked as research assistant at the Institute of Ecology, UNAM (1992–1999) doing fieldwork and directing students in projects related to ecology of tropical small mammals. She has been professor of hydrology and conservation of natural resources (1994–1999), and has taught other subjects at undergraduate and graduate level both in Mexico and Canada.
Her areas of interest include environmental management, auditing, certification, sustainability, outdoor sports, women’s issues and photography.
