Martin Nie

Martin NieMartin Nie is associate professor of natural resource policy in the College of Forestry and Conservation at the University of Montana. His teaching responsibilities and research interests are in the areas of environmental and natural resources policy, law and administration, with a focus on public lands and wildlife. Nie has a particular interest in natural resource-based political conflict and his current research agenda examines public lands governance — the political institutions and decision making processes used to handle difficult policy problems. He received his PhD from Northern Arizona University.

Professor Nie is the author of Beyond Wolves: The Politics of Wolf Recovery and Management (University of Minnesota Press, 2003), and various articles published in outlets like Natural Resources Journal, Policy Sciences, Journal of Environmental Law and Litigation, and Public Administration Review, among others. He is currently writing a book about public lands conflict and governance.
