Georg Grabherr
Georg Grabherr is a full professor of vegetation ecology and
conservation biology at the Department of Conservation Biology, University of
Vienna. His interests are high mountain ecology including global change effects,
vegetation analysis and classification, evaluation of human influence on
Austrian forests, conservation biology and biodiversity. Memberships include
advisory board of the International Association of Vegetation Science;
external advisory board for the FP-5 of the EC; scientific advisory board
for the FFH-Directive of the EU; chairman of ALPNET; IGBP-Mountain
Research Initiative (principal contributor); advisory board of GMBA;
Austrian Academy of Sciences (Commission for Alpine Research), Austrian
biodiversity commission; co-ordinator of GLORIA Europe (EVK2-CT-2000-00056)
in the FP-5 and of GLOCHAMORE (Global Change in Mountain Regions:
An Integrated Assessment of Causes and Consequences), and SSA in FP-6 of
the EC.
