Mountain Culture Grants and Scholarships
Mountain Culture at The Banff Centre offers programs that mentor, educate, inspire, and connect mountain and adventure filmmakers, photographers, and writers.
The Banff Centre’s Mountain Culture programs promote understanding and appreciation of the world’s mountain places by creating opportunities for people to share — and find inspiration in — mountain experiences, ideas, and challenges. Through our programs, we celebrate and explore the values and accomplishments of all those who are dedicated to developing their relationship with mountain places.
Adventure filmmakers, photographers, and mountain writers creatively interpret the environment, natural history, human heritage, arts, philosophy, lifestyle, and/or adventure, in and of the mountains — and share their findings with wide audiences through films, photographs, books, and public presentations.
Mountain Culture at The Banff Centre supports the creative process and the artists who provide the content that makes the Banff Mountain Film and Book Festivals among the best in the world. Inspired program content is an integral part of Mountain Culture’s mission to promote understanding and appreciation of the world’s mountain places.
Banff Mountain Grants have been suspended until further notice. If you are currently working on a mountain and/or adventure inspired film, photography, or writing project please consider applying for the Banff Mountain Writing Program, Banff Adventure Filmmaker Workshop, or Banff Adventure Photography Workshop. Scholarship assistance is often available.
